Bouffon Workshop & Red Bastard Show in Winnipeg

I’m pleased to announce my involvement with the co-production and organization of a Bouffon Workshop to take place in Winnipeg, led by premiere American bouffon Eric Davis, aka Red Bastard!

This intensive 16 hour workshop of mockery, mischief and mayhem awaits you as Eric Davis, the creator of Red Bastard, leads in teasing out your inner BOUFFON. Discover pleasure to critique and play as we explore laughter through explosive parody, strange bodies, and a nudge from the devil himself.

In the world of Bouffon, these grotesque outsiders engage and parody their audience with great joy, intelligence and charm in order to expose hypocrisy and flaws. To play as Bouffon is to celebrate paradox! They are disgusting, yet beautiful. They hate you, yet they flatter you.

A ferocious social satire is about to explode, liberating the energy in the room with an immense pleasure to play.

In this workshop, participants will explore:

  • Pleasure to Parody Societal Maladies and Hypocrisy
  • Creating Complex Physical Characters and Bodies
  • Playing upon Contrasts of Rhythm and Theme
  • Exploring Boundaries and How Far is “Too Far”
  • Connecting with the Audience
  • Being 100 % Present and Captivating

The workshop (and show) is scheduled to take place at Prairie Theatre Exchange in Winnipeg during the following dates and times, and includes admission to a performance of Red Bastard:
