A Daring Adventure

This is my ‘About Me’ page. Instead of labeling it as such, I instead decided to label it “A Daring Adventure” as inspired by Helen Keller’s quote, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”

In a sense, blogging can be seen as a daring adventure. Blogging can be seen as a daring act because you’re sharing your thoughts, views, experiences and life on the Internet for all the world to see; by doing so, you’re making yourself vulnerable to criticism and negative feedback, yet at the same time you’re also paving the way for an exciting adventure to unfold.

Although ‘About Me’ pages are often written in the 3rd person perspective, I thought I’d give a shot at writing a fun, relaxed, 1st person perspective page.

Let’s see… where to start…?

As you’ve probably already figured out, my name is Rachelle Fordyce.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. After graduating from highschool with Honors, I attended the humble University of Winnipeg and earned a four-year Bachelor of Arts Honors degree majoring in Theatre and Drama.

I used to work in a call center. That was years ago now, but I had worked as call-center wage slave for an approximate accumulative total of 8 years. Later, I wrote a solo play based on my experiences working in the call center industry. The title of the play depends on the version — the first version was called Hate your Job? Quit! (written in 2003), while the later version was titled S.M.I.L.E. while you D.I.E. In both cases, it had the secondary title of Eve Rae Mann and the Pursuit of Happiness. At present, I’m primarily a stage actor, playwright, and independent theatre producer, and also direct, stage manage, and design from time to time as well.

And most recently… I’m a blogger!

In contradiction of what I’ve written above, I don’t wish to define or label myself based solely on what I have done or what I do. Rather, I’d like to think that I’m unlimited potential. I’m a child of the universe. This is especially true when you consider that each atom in my body (and yours!) once existed in a star.

I’m a bit of a geek at times. I used to be a bit of a gamer, but haven’t really been into that in a long while. I also love ST:TNG and various forms of sci-fi.

I’ve been following a vegan diet since late 2001. I’m very compassionate towards people, animals, and the planet alike.

Like anyone, I have my downfalls that I’m striving to ameliorate. For starters, I’m determined to kick procrastination in the ass!

Some of my current goals and aspirations include (but aren’t limited to) inspiring others to follow a diet that is healthy and sustainable for both their bodies and the planet, environmental education and outreach, creative self-expression in the form of this blog, creative vegan recipes, music, theatre, and film… AND travelling the globe!

…It’s hard to sum up who I am in a single page. Hopefully you’ll get a better idea as to who and what I am as time passes and I write and share more and more of myself on here. It’s my sincerest wish that my actions and words will directly contribute to creating positive change in the lives of others and the world itself. <3 One thing’s for sure — I’m certainly looking forward to the daring adventure!
